"Home Learning" with multiple children?

In the current climate, 'home learning' is something we're all coming to terms with. Often schools provide materials either digitally or physically in line with the state/national curriculum. If you're after more than this, or if in your situation students are on a prolonged holiday, I thought I'd share what my 3 children will be doing over the next couple of weeks whilst staying at home. In putting this together I've taken into account their own needs/interests, so obviously an acknowledgement that every child is unique and that there's no 'one-size-fits-all'. Most of these have been designed for a parent who may still be working from home themselves and are relatively independent activities.

Child 1: 5 years old, getting ready to enter Prep

  • Write a story and draw the pictures- brainstorm first

  • Read the book "One is a Snail" One is a Snail, Ten is a Crab - YouTube - choose a new number each day and think about how you could have that many legs using the animals from the book

  • Create patterns and sort items- use lego, blocks, etc - take photos of these

  • Read beginner books and begin to read picture books with an adult

  • write a letter to someone, illustrate it and post it

Child 2: 10 years old, getting ready to enter Year 5

  • Create a stop motion movie with lego or toys using ipad

  • Create a brochure for how to look after guinea pigs- illustrate

  • Do the Solve Me mobile puzzles online daily- SolveMe Mobiles (edc.org)

  • Write a letter to someone and post it

  • Practice flute and learn some new songs online

Child 3: 13 years old, getting ready to enter year 8

  • choose a country and write a report on it- history, food, people, culture- turn it into a poster

  • write a letter to someone and post it

  • look up logic puzzles/brain teasers online

  • using dice or playing cards create your own board game

  • learn about different careers and what might interest me

  • practice guitar

Altogether

  • play uno and other card games

  • leran to play chess

  • play soccer and outdoor games

  • read book/meditate daily at regular time

  • play Nintendo

  • help with cooking and cleaning

What would you add/subtract? How are your plans as a 'learning at home' parent different?
